Underground utility mapping using GPR technology for Michigan Engineering Pvt. Ltd.

 

Scope of Work:

GPR Investigation to map the underground Pipelines, identification, at their proposed micro-tunnelling alignment.

GSSI SIR-4000 equipped 400 MHz, 200MHz, 100MHz antenna.

Large number of junctions, heavy traffic, executed at night-time.

Summary:

The GPR survey has been carried out at proposed site at Hindmata in Mumbai in the month of January 2019. The survey has been conducted over three stretches of approximate lengths of 166m, 25m and 30m on a road. The scope of work includes the mapping of possible underground utilities up to the depth of around 8 m using non-destructive Ground Penetrating Radar technology. The purpose of the project was to map all the underground utilities in order to prevent the damage to the same during the new pipeline installation using HDD. Considering the client's requirements and the expected depth of the utilities, the area has been surveyed using antenna of center frequency 100 MHz, 400 MHz and 200 MHz mounted on SIR 4000 GPR system to cover the depth up to 8 m with fair resolution. A plan view along with sectional views have been generated with marked identified utilities. the located utilities were differentiated as metallic and non-metallic and classified as per ASCE standards.
