GPR investigation to map the alignment of laid Underground Utility for Rajesh Power Private Limited

Scope of Work:

The scope of project is to map the accurate alignment of the newly laid 36 inch steel pipeline at a proposed stretch across the railway tracks at Vatva railway station using GPR technology.

Location:

Vatva Railway Station, Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Client:

Rajesh Power Services Private Ltd.

Equipment:

GSSI SIR-4000 equipped with 400 MHz and 200 MHz antennas.

Challenges:

Unfavourable Temperature, Uneven ground surface, Non-uniform survey area and presence of railway tracks.

Summary:

The GPR survey has been carried out near Vatva Railway station (Ahmedabad), Gujarat. The scope of work includes the mapping of possible utilities, up to the depth of around 6.0 m using non-destructive Ground Penetrating Radar technology. However, the main focal point of the survey was to find out the variation in depth of recently laid down MS pipe (800 mm diameter) crossing under railway track at every 2 m offset. The proposed length of area need to survey was of 72 m. Considering the client's requirements and the expected depth, the area has been surveyed using 400 MHz and 200 MHz center frequency antennae mounted with SIR 4000 to cover the depth up to 6.0 m with superior target resolution.
