Inspection of Trench Wall using GPR at Vadodara, Gujarat for GE Renewables
Scope of Work:
GPR investigation to inspect the structural integrity of over 100 year’s old Masonry Canal.
Location:
Vadodara, Gujarat
Client:
GE Renewable Energy Grid Solution
Equipment:
GSSI SIR-4000 GPR system equipped with 400 MHz center frequency antenna
Challenges:
Settled machines inside the campus challenging for machine movement
Summary:
The GPR survey has been carried out at 8 different locations in GE Renewable Energy Transformer Factory located at village Kotambi, Vadodara (Gujarat) to locate possible voids or anomalies in an underground trench wall. Scope of work includes the scanning of utility trench wall having the chances of anomalies. The purpose of the project is to detect the anomaly or any other discrepancy in the underground trench wall that may cause leakage or seepage of water into the trench. As the trench wall was not accessible to be scanned over the face, the wall has been scanned from its top. Considering the client's requirements and the expected depth of the scanning, the walls have been surveyed using 400 MHz center frequency antenna mounted with SIR 4000 GPR system to cover the depth up to 3 m with fair resolution.
