Structural scanning of 16 patches on the ancient wall of Masonry Canal Inspection using GPR at Lonavala

Summary:
The GPR survey has been carried out on Canal wall at 16 different proposed chainage locations along the canal in Lonavala, Maharashtra. The scope of the work included the mapping of voids or any other discrepancies in masonry canal wall, up to the depth of around 1-1.5 m using non-destructive Ground Penetrating Radar Technology. The survey is done to assess the structural integrity of the canal wall and to evaluate the damages or deterioration that might have developed in masonry structure over the time. Considering the client's requirements and the expected thickness of the structure, 16 different locations has been surveyed using GSSI StructureScan Mini with a 1600 MHz center frequency antenna to cover the depth up to 1.0 m with superior target resolution. The area of 60 cm X 60 cm is scanned each of these 16 locations with GPR. At each location, the data is collected in 3D grid pattern of 5 cm X 5 cm spacing in longitudinal and transverse direction of the wall.
