Underground Utility Mapping for L&T at Chennai Metro CMRL TU-02 Project

Summary:
The scope of the project includes the mapping of underground utilities using non-destructive Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology at proposed four locations i.e, Royapetth Hospital Station, Greenways Road Station, Thiruvanmiyur Station and Chetpet Station in Chennai. The GPR survey has been carried out at all four proposed areas in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The survey has been conducted in the month of July 2021. The scope of the work includes the mapping of existing pipelines in the area, up to the depth of around 6 m. The purpose of the survey is to map all the underground existing utilities including cables, water lines or any other utility to generate a record and plan map of the proposed locations. The aim is to plan the smooth execution of Project with minimum interference to these existing assets.
Considering the client's requirements and the expected depth of the utilities, the area has
been surveyed using 200 MHz and 400 MHz centre frequency antennas mounted with SIR
4000 GPR system to cover the depth up to 0-6 m with fair resolution.
