Underground Utility Mapping for National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited. at Vadodara and Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Scope of Work:
GPR investigation to map underground utilities up to depth of 8 m.
Location:
Vadodara and Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Client:
National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited.
Equipment:
GSSI SIR 3000 and GSSI SIR 4000 equipped with 100 MHz, 200 MHz and 400 MHz center frequency antennas.
Summary:
The scope of this project includes the mapping of specific locations around the proposed pier locations using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)technology to locate underground utilities. The GPR survey has been carried out at proposed five sites in and around Ahmedabad. The location of five sites includes Chimanbhai bridge, Shahibaug, Maninagar, Guruji Flyover and Cadilla bridge and in Vadodara the survey has been carried out on proposed 500 m road stretch, starting from near Lalit Tower. The scope of work includes the mapping of possible underground utilities up to the depth of around 8 m using non-destructive Ground Penetrating Radar technology. The purpose of the project was to map all the underground pipelines, signal cables, Gas lines, sewer lines or any other utility in order to prevent the damage to the same during the construction of piers or to plan the shifting of the same.
Considering the client's requirements and the expected depth of the utilities, the area has been surveyed using three antennas of centre frequencies 400 MHz, 200 MHz and 100 MHz mounted on GSSI SIR 3000 and GSSI SIR 4000 GPR system to cover the depth up to 8 m with fair resolution.
